MPME is a mutual guarantee scheme, established in 1949 as a cooperative society on the initiative of the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts and the Federation of Craftsmen.
If the original aim of the Cooperative was helping in the reconstruction of the skilled trades and crafts sector after the destructions of World War II, the range of activity encompasses nowadays the financing of Luxembourgish SME’s and independent professionals coming from all sectors, except agriculture.
The underlying principles on which MPME’s activity is based are solidarity and cooperation between firms encountering the same problems in financing their projects and activities.
All clients of MPME become associates of the cooperative society by subscribing partnership shares showing a nominal value of 24 euros liberated by half. The participation remains on the symbolic level with subscriptions between 25 and 250 shares, depending on the amount of the guarantee given (micro-credit level up to 2.5 million euros).
